Who are you?
I’m an indie author and illustrator living in Saskatchewan, Canada. I love camping and gardening with my husband and our five kids, and learning about my catholic faith. I teach piano while trying to squeeze in as much time paddling on the river or walking through the trees as I can.
I strongly believe creative work is a tool for scratching at the surface of reality.
Put another way, the role of creative work is to prepare ourselves for a truth so startlingly beautiful that it is not believable unless we have first been stretched – which is one of the many powers of stories.
My stories are influenced by my love for music, wilderness, and the human search for reality in the midst of suffering.
Who are my books for?:
You are welcome here no matter what your demographic. My stories are wholesome, but do navigate some heavy subjects.
I write fantasy fiction for young/new adult and middle grade, as well as cozy mysteries for young/new adult.
I’m also working on several picture books for young children.
If you want stories that lift you up and leave you with something to ponder, you’ll love my books!
What sort of content can I expect in your books?
I do grapple with suffering and the dark side of humanity, but I try to avoid being too explicit or graphic.
You might find the odd swear word, or comments you disagree with, because I care about accurate characterization (I want my characters to say and do things that are fit their values/personalities).
Some people may find some events triggering – each book I’ve published has a brief over view of possible objectional content, here on my website. If you have specific questions, please feel free to contact me.
How can I follow your work?:
My newsletter – I send you emails announcing new projects and book releases, as well as sneak peek chapters into my stories.
What’s with your book covers?
I want to give you beautiful book covers, but as a very small indie author, there are a lot of barriers I have to climb in order to do that.
So for the next few years, I’m going to be dedicating my time to writing, and setting aside marketing.
My books will look very simple, but I hope you fall in love with the stories within.
